Is it permissible for a person to perform the prayer of seeking guidance (istikharah) on behalf of another, by analogy to a brother’s supplication for his brother?

The questioner : In the name of Allah.
Praise be to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah.
Shaykh, may Allah bless you: Regarding istikharah, is it permissible for a person to perform istikharah on behalf of another, by analogy to a brother’s supplication for his brother in his absence and the fact that the supplication is for him?

The Shaykh : Istikharah is not permissible except for the one who intends to do something, and it is not valid for a person to perform istikharah on behalf of another, even if he appoints him as his agent and says, “Seek guidance from Allah for me.” This is because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When one of you intends to do something, let him pray two rak’ahs and then say إذا هم أحدكم فليركع ركعتين ثم ليقل
and he mentioned the hadith. Similarly, if two people enter the mosque and one says to the other, “Pray two rak’ahs for me as the greeting of the mosque, and I will sit,” it is not valid. Thus, the prayer of istikharah is tied to the person who intends to do the action. Yes.
