What is the ruling on performing voluntary prayers between Maghrib and 'Isha' and maintaining this practice?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : His EminenceThe Shaykh : What is the ruling on performing voluntary prayers between Maghrib and 'Isha'? Should one persist in this or occasionally leave it off? Is it wrong to criticize someone who persists in performing voluntary prayers between Maghrib and 'Isha', or is this considered excessive strictness and rigor in religion? May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : It is not wrong to criticize someone who performs voluntary prayers between Maghrib and 'Isha' until 'Isha'; there is no blame on him. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) specified the times of prohibition, which indicates that all other times are times for prayer. In fact, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the man who said to him:
he told me to make a request. I said, “I ask to accompany you in paradise.” He asked if I had any other request to make سل، قال: أسألك مرافقتك في الجنة، قال: أو غير ذلك؟
Mishkat al-Masabih 896
He said: "That is it." He said: "Help yourself with much prostration," meaning: with much prayer. So you should engage in prayer, for it is the best thing placed. If you were to keep praying from the setting of the sun until the dawn breaks, you would be on the right path. However, do not overburden yourself; that is, do not make this obligatory upon yourself as 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As did, for he used to stand in prayer at night and fast during the day, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade him from doing that. Yes.

The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
His EminenceThe Shaykh : I do not have a question, but I would like to give advice, if Allah wills, regarding matters of religion in general.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good and do you good.

The Shaykh : Do you have advice?

The questioner : No, he says.

The Shaykh : Ah, you are asking us for advice? You are offering two pieces of advice now in this gathering. We ask Allah for success for us and for you. Whoever seeks salvation sincerely, He will grant him success.
