If a man wishes to sacrifice on behalf of himself and his family, do the family members have to observe the rules of the one who sacrifices?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, may Allah reward you. Some people who sacrifice think that when the first of Dhul-Hijjah enters, their children must not take anything from their nails because they have entered [the state of sacrifice]!

The Shaykh : He is sacrificing on their behalf.

The questioner : He is sacrificing on their behalf.

The Shaykh : Yes, indeed.

The questioner : And the woman is the same.

The Shaykh : This is based on the hadith, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
It was narrated from Abu Sa'eed that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: إذا أراد أحدكم أن يضحّي
Sunan an-Nasa'i 262Sahih (Darussalam)
, and he did not say: "or he is sacrificed for." Accordingly, if a man sacrifices the udhiyah on behalf of himself and his family, there is no blame on his family members if they take from their hair, nails, or skin, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
It was narrated from Abu Sa'eed that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: إذا أراد أحدكم أن يضحّي
Sunan an-Nasa'i 262Sahih (Darussalam)
, and because it is not reported that he used to say to his family: "Do not take from your hair, nails, or skin."

The questioner : And what about the one who wants to sacrifice but has taken something?

The Shaykh : How does he want to?

The questioner : Do you mean he has an obligation to sacrifice, he wanted to offer the udhiyah, but he took something from his nails?

The Shaykh : Then he is a sinner against the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), but the udhiyah is valid, because there is no connection between the udhiyah and taking from the hair.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : Yes.
