The life of a human being is divided into three: the life of this world, which is what we live, and the life of the Hereafter, which is known

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says in his second question: The life of a human being is divided into three: the life of this world, which is what we live; secondly, the life of the Hereafter, which is known; and thirdly, between the life of this world and the Hereafter is the life of the barzakh (the interval between death and resurrection). What is the life of the barzakh? And does the person exist in it with his body and his soul? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good?

The Shaykh : Yes. The life of the barzakh (the interval between death and resurrection) is a life between two lives. These three types of life range from the lowest to the highest. The life of the barzakh is more complete than the life of this world for the pious, because the person is granted comfort in his grave, a door to Paradise is opened for him, and his sight is expanded. The life of the Hereafter, which is Paradise and is the abode of the pious, is more complete, and far more complete, than the life of the barzakh. Likewise, it is said regarding the disbeliever that his life in his grave is more severe in punishment than what he receives of punishment in this world, and his punishment in the Fire, which is the abode of the disbelievers, is more severe and more severe. So the life of the barzakh is, in reality, a life between two lives in terms of time and in terms of state. The state of the person in it is between two states: a lower and a higher. And so is the time, as is well known.
As for his question whether the life of the barzakh (the interval between death and resurrection) is for the soul and the body, it is certainly for the soul without doubt. Then it may connect to the body at times if it remains and the earth has not consumed it and it has not burned and scattered in the air. And it may not connect. This is the stronger position regarding the comfort of the grave or its punishment: that it is, in its essence, for the soul, and it may connect to the body. But what happens at the time of burial, the apparent view is that it is for both the soul and the body, because there are hadiths indicating this, namely that the deceased is seated in his grave, he is questioned, his grave is expanded for him, and it is constricted upon him until his ribs differ, and all of this indicates that the comfort or the punishment at the time of burial is for the body and the soul. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
