What is the ruling on ruqyah for a woman whom the ruqyah practitioner ordered to look at a circle on the wall, and he identified the two women who cast the evil eye on her when he covered his head with a shawl and placed his hand on her head?

The questioner : Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace.

The questioner : Noble Shaykh, a man married a woman.

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : He married a woman, and since the wedding night, his wife has been experiencing pains and aches, and it has now been about three years.

The Shaykh : And how long has it been?

The questioner : About three years since his marriage.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : The condition has continued with her. She went to her family, and her brother took her to a man who recites, and he is praised and spoken of well. When he took her to him in a place like a sitting room, he said to her, "Look at the wall and look above the circle, tighten your headscarf, and come closer to him." Then he took the shawl he was wearing and placed it on her head, covering her with it. Then he held her finger and placed his hand on her head, then he came close to her and said, "You have the evil eye, and it is caused by two women. One of them is blind, and they are the mother's evil eye out of love, and the other is the wife of your husband's uncle." He saw the width of her forehead to be the width of two of his fingers, and he began to mutter. She said that he did not recite any letter of the Qur'an, I am certain, not even al-Fatihah. Then she told him that she sees a man coming to her in her room and disturbing her in her dreams, and so on. He said, "Do not pay attention to this man; it is what I told you about." Then he said, "Come next Tuesday with date palm wood and salt mixed together, and water and oil. Then I will recite over it, and then you come." When the brother brought him what he requested, he informed him that the second woman is the wife of the husband's uncle. What is your opinion of this?

The Shaykh : Okay, and is it true that this man who said that the one who afflicted her with the evil eye is so-and-so and so-and-so?

The questioner : How, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Is it true that the two women are the ones who afflicted her with the evil eye?

The questioner : We do not know.

The Shaykh : Okay, where did he get this from?

The questioner : I do not know, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : I fear that this is one of the sorcerers who separate people from one another.

The questioner : I discussed this woman with my brother. I said, "How do you take your sister to this man?"
He said, "He is a man who is spoken of well, and he is a Shaykh, and so on, and Allah has cured many people through him, and he recites Qur'an, and it is not true what is said about him, and so on." So I said to him, "One question: He recites, perhaps he uses the Muslim jinn with the conditions mentioned by the scholars, like the Shaykh al-Islam, but I want one question: How does he see the two women in her forehead? That is what I asked him."

The Shaykh : In any case, I see that he should not go to him and those like him, and it should be said: If he is a person of good who recites over the one afflicted with the evil eye or other illnesses, that is sufficient, or the one who cast the evil eye is identified and asked to do what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered.

The questioner : ... So should I take water from the two women for my wife, or would this be confirming the fortune-teller?

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that if he takes it, he is confirming it, until we know this man and his state. The man may appear righteous on the outside, but he seeks help from the jinn with forbidden things. So in such matters, one must stop.

The questioner : Meaning, he does not take from the two women?

The Shaykh : I do not advise him to take from them ever. He should seek help from Allah, recite, and use beneficial things.
