Treatment of the Evil Eye and Sorcery

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The honorable Shaykh, a man married a woman, and since the wedding night, his wife has been afflicted with pains and aches. It has now been about three years since their marriage. When she went to her family, her brother took her to a man who recites—people speak well of him and mention him with praise— When he took her to him, in a place in the gathering, he said to her: Look at the wall, look above the circle, and tighten your step upon yourself, and she was brought closer to him. Then he took the shawl that was on her and placed it on her head, covering part of her body. After that, he held her finger and then placed his hand on her head. Then he came close to her and said: You have the evil eye, and the one who cast it on you are two women who have defects. One of them is your mother, and your mother’s evil eye is out of love. The other is the wife of your husband’s uncle. I see them now on your forehead. He described the woman as having a forehead the width of two of his fingers, then he began to mutter. The woman says: He did not recite any letter; he just mutters, and I cannot be certain that he is muttering.

He recited al-Fatihah, and then after that she said: I see a man coming to me in my room and disturbing me in my dream. So he said: Do not pay attention to this man. What is with you is what I told you.
Then after that, you come next Tuesday with dates and salt mixed together, and water and oil, and then I will recite over it. After her brother came next Tuesday with the oil, he informed him about the second woman, saying: The second woman is the wife of the husband’s uncle. What is your opinion about this? The Shaykh: And is this man who said that the one who afflicted her with the evil eye is so-and-so and so-and-so, is this the truth? The questioner: We do not know.

The Shaykh: So: Where did he get this knowledge from? I fear that this is from the sorcerers who divide people.

The questioner: I discussed this with the brother of this woman and said: How do you take your sister to this man?He said: He is a man who is mentioned with praise, and he is a Shaykh, and Allah has cured many patients through his hands, and that he recites the Qur'an, and that what is said about him is not true.So I said to him, I ask you one question: He recites, and he may use, for example, Muslim jinn who inform him, as the Shaykh al-Islam mentioned, for example, or something like that. But I want one question, which is that: How does he see the two women on her forehead? The Shaykh: In any case: I see that he should go to this man and his like. And it is said: If he is a man of good who recites for the one afflicted with the evil eye or other illnesses, that is sufficient, or he identifies the one who cast the evil eye and asks him to do what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded.

The questioner: Now her husband says: Should I take from these two women for my wife, or if I take from them, would that be believing the fortune-teller?The Shaykh: It is no doubt that if he takes from them, he is believing them, until we know about this man and his condition. He may be a man whose outward appearance is righteousness, but he seeks help from jinn, with forbidden things. So such matters must be stopped.

The questioner: Meaning, he does not take from these two women? The Shaykh: No, I do not advise him to take from them at all. He should seek help from Allah, recite, and use beneficial things.
