What is the ruling on learning Abjad, and what is it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yahya Ibrahim says: Please inform us, may Allah reward you. What is the ruling on learning Abjad, and what is it?
The letters called Abjad are: Abjad, Hawaz, Hata, Kalaman, Sa'fas, Thakhad, Qarashat, Dhadh, and Ghayn. These are the letters. Did you understand?
And these have symbols for them that relate to the stars, and they claim to have rules that if such and such happens, then such and such occurs. But it is useful for you in the field of calculation: alif is one, ba is two, jim is three, dal is four, ha is five, waw is six, zay is seven, ha is eight, ta is nine, ya is ten, and ra is two hundred. So, for example, if I say:
Ra, what is its number? How much?

The questioner : Two hundred and ten.

The Shaykh : Two hundred and ten. And for al-Shafi'i, "dur" (meaning: his death), and for Ibn Hanbal, "ram." So it is useful for you in this regard. As for those who learn Abjad as in the hadith of Ibn Abbas: that they have no share of it, they use it as evidence that it is symbols related to the stars, their rising and setting.
