The Meaning of the Hadith: "We Found Them Worshipping You and Glorifying You..."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings. What is the meaning of the hadith in al-Bukhari:
Allah says to His angels: "How did you find My servants?" They say: "We found them worshipping You, glorifying You, and supplicating to You."
? Does this indicate the permissibility of collective glorification? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
This is established in the authentic hadith: that the angels follow the gatherings of dhikr. When they find a gathering in which there is the seeking of knowledge, glorification, and dhikr, they sit and attend, as in the authentic hadith:
Indeed, Allah has angels of grace who seek out the gatherings of dhikr.
, and in the other wording:
Indeed, Allah has roaming angels who convey to me the greetings of my Ummah.
(peace and blessings be upon him). These angels ascend to Allah, and He asks them, although He knows them best. He knows the conditions of His servants, and nothing is hidden from Him (Exalted and Majestic is He). However, He asks them to manifest the virtue of the people of faith and the people of good:
"How did you find My servants?" They say: "We found them glorifying You, seeking Your forgiveness, and remembering You..."
to the end of it. He said:
What are they asking for?” and they reply, “They are asking Thee for paradise.”
Mishkat al-Masabih 2267
to the end of the hadith.
The point is that this question from Allah is to manifest their virtue and their status. It does not indicate the permissibility of collective takbir or collective dhikr. Each person glorifies for himself, and each person supplicates for himself. This one asks about knowledge, this one asks about a verse, and this one asks about a hadith. This one says: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah), this one says: Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), and this one says: La ilaha illa Allah (There is no god but Allah). The Companions did not perform dhikr collectively, and they are the role model. However, this indicates that the angels record their deeds.
