What is the meaning of the prohibition of two sales in one sale?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says, what is the meaning of the prohibition of two sales in one sale?

The Shaykh : Its meaning is that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited two sales in one sale, meaning in one item sold. This prohibition is understood to apply to what the Sunnah has clarified in another place, namely a sale that includes explicit riba (usury or interest) or a scheme to circumvent it. The form of this issue is:

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : A person sells an item for a deferred price, then buys it back from the buyer for a lower cash price. For example, he sells a car for sixty thousand over a period of one year, paid in installments over that year, then buys it back from the one who sold it to him for less in cash, such as forty thousand. These are the two sales in one sale, because this item, the car, was sold twice: the first time for a high deferred price, and the second time for a low cash price. This undoubtedly opens the door to circumventing riba (usury or interest). The meaning is that instead of giving you forty thousand for one year and then you paying him sixty thousand, he brings this car. For this reason, Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) said regarding the issue of 'inah (a buy-back sale used to disguise a loan): "Dirhams for dirhams, with a silk garment entering between them", meaning this is its reality.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) warned against it when he said:
When you enter into the inah transaction, hold the tails of oxen إذا تبايعتم بالعينة وأخذتم بأذناب البقر
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)

Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you, O honorable Shaykh.
