What is the ruling on washing the face with soap every time one performs wudu? And what is the ruling on one who does it as a recommended practice?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : And this person says: What is the ruling on washing the face with soap every time one performs wudu, and what is the ruling on one who does it as a recommended practice?

The Shaykh : Do you mean as an act of worship? As for one who does it as an act of worship, he is being overly strict in his worship and is an innovator; it is obligatory for him to stop doing this. As for one who does it for cleanliness, it depends: if this man’s face becomes dirty between prayers and he wants to clean it with soap, there is nothing wrong with it; otherwise, he should not do it.
