What is your opinion on the interpretation of dreams by Ibn Sirin?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : You are asking about the interpretation of dreams by Ibn Sirin, O honorable Shaykh, saying, "What is your opinion of it?"

The Shaykh : Our opinion is that a person should not read it or rely on it, because visions differ according to the one who sees them. Two men may see a dream with the same image, yet it differs in meaning; it is interpreted for one dreamer in one way and for the other dreamer in another way. For this reason, we do not recommend reading interpretations of dreams, whether by Ibn Sirin or anyone else, because a person does not know the difference in dream interpretation between one person and another. Perhaps he will interpret a dream he saw, and it will turn out to be contrary to his interpretation, yet it will come to pass as he interpreted it, as stated in the hadith that if a person interprets a dream, it will come to pass according to his interpretation, even if it is disliked.
Therefore, we warn against attaching importance to these dream interpretations, because they differ from one person to another.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
