The Pillars of Hajj and 'Umrah.

The Shaykh : As for the pillars of Hajj, the scholars said: Its pillars are four: entering the state of ihram, which is the intention to perform the rites, tawaf (circumambulation of the Ka'bah), sa'y (walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah), and standing at 'Arafah. These are four pillars. As for 'Umrah, its pillars are: entering the state of ihram, tawaf, and sa'y—three pillars. Standing at 'Arafah is dropped from it because 'Umrah does not have a standing at 'Arafah.
