What is the meaning of what came in the hadith of the blind man's seeking nearness to Allah (O Muhammad, I direct myself to my Lord through you), given that he was not with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh. We mentioned that the hadith of the blind man's seeking nearness to Allah is a hadith about which scholars have spoken critically.

The Shaykh : Which one?

The questioner : The hadith.

The Shaykh : Of the blind man.

The questioner :
O Allah, I direct myself to You اللهم إني أتوجه إليك
Because some scholars authenticated this hadith, we need an answer to his statement when the blind man learned the supplication in part of the hadith, where he said:
O Muhammad, I direct myself to my Lord through You يا محمد إني أتوجه بك إلى ربك
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 64:1090
And at the end of the hadith, the narrator mentioned that he said:
So the man came to us as if there was no ailment in him فدخل علينا الرجل كأن لم يكن به برء
This indicates that the man was outside or was not with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and yet he called upon him, saying:
O Muhammad يا محمد
What is the answer to that?

The Shaykh : The answer to this is as mentioned by the Shaykh al-Islam in *Tawassul wa al-Wasilah*. Refer to his words in this book. His statement:
I seek nearness to you through your Prophet أتوسل إليك بنبيك
And he asked the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to supplicate for him. This is the definitive interpretation in order to align with the other evidence.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, O Muhammad, in the sense of... Yes, it exists. Refer to the book I told you about, *Tawassul wa al-Wasilah*, so that the matter becomes clear to you. Yes, that is sufficient. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : No, it is not from the east.

The questioner : Last question.

The Shaykh : But he is from Unayzah, yes.
