Is it permissible for a person to make a supplication against another person, saying, “O Allah, if so-and-so is among the people of the Fire, then destroy him, and if he is among the people of Paradise, then forgive him”?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : If a person makes a supplication and says, “O Allah, if it is in Your prior knowledge that this person is among the people of the Fire, then O Allah, destroy him and kill him and do not let him remain, and if it is in Your prior knowledge that he is among the people of Paradise, O Allah, guide him?”

The Shaykh : This is a great error, and it is not permissible to make such a supplication. Rather, it is obligatory for you to supplicate for your brothers for guidance. The fact that it is in Allah’s prior knowledge is not something for you to object to, because if you supplicate for someone’s guidance, and Allah has decreed that he will not be guided, he will remain unguided. But if Allah has decreed that he will be guided, you become a cause of good among the causes of his guidance, for Allah answers the supplication of the one who calls upon Him. As for the supplication you mentioned, it is an innovated supplication; the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not make it, nor did the Salaf. It contains a type of objection to divine decree and destiny. Yes.
