Is it permissible to name a child "Aziz" or "Shahid"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : As for Aziz, I used to think there was nothing wrong with it, because those who name their children Aziz do not intend the meaning of majesty. However, I came across a hadith prohibiting the name Aziz. As for Shahid, as you know, it is the singular of shahid (witness). Allah the Exalted has affirmed witnessing for people, saying:
And bring to witness two witnesses from among your menوَاسْتَشْهِدُوا شَهِيدَيْنِ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْ
[Al-Baqarah 2:282]
But I fear that if a child is named Shahid, the mind will first turn to the witnessing of Allah the Mighty and Majestic, for He is a witness over His servants. Therefore, avoiding these two names is undoubtedly preferable. And names, praise be to Allah, are numerous. One who wants to know names should refer to *Al-Isabah fi Tamyiz al-Sahabah* by Ibn Hajar, where he lists the name Abdullah in the hundreds. I mean, it is difficult for a person to find a name unless he resorts to such things, which is regrettable now. Nowadays, people look for any unusual name to use, even naming their children Afnan, and I think also Aghsan and the like. One person named his son Naktal, saying: this is found in the Qur'an:
so send with us our brother [that] we will be given measure فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا أَخَانَا نَكْتَلْ
[Yusuf 12:63]
They thought that Naktal was a substitute for "our brother," but it is Naktal, which is a jussive form of a present-tense verb, but due to ignorance.
Praise be to Allah, you have many names: Abdullah, and Abd al-Rahman, which are the names most beloved to Allah, and the names of the prophets: such as Muhammad, Musa, Isa, Yusuf, and the like.
