The reciter: Zuhayr ibn Harb and Ishaq ibn Ibrahim both narrated from Jarir. Zuhayr said: Jarir narrated to us from Mansur from Abu Wa'il from Masruq from Aisha, who said:
Two old women from the elderly of the Jews of Madinah came to me and said: "The people of the graves are punished in their graves." She said: "So I denied them and I did not like to believe them. Then they left, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me. I said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, two old women from the elderly of the Jews of Madinah came to me and claimed that the people of the graves are punished in their graves.' He said: 'They spoke the truth. They are punished with a punishment that the animals can hear.' She said: 'I did not see him in prayer after that except that he sought refuge from the punishment of the grave."
