The Book of Mosques and Places of Prayer-09b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah and 'Amr al-Naqid narrated to us, saying: Sufyan narrated to us from al-Zuhri from Salim from his father. 'Amr said: It is transmitted to him. And Abu Bakr said: It is raised.

The Shaykh : The phrase "it is transmitted to him" or "it is raised" has passed before us in the terminology as being among the categories of what is raised in ruling. This is because when it is said of a Companion that "it is transmitted to him," it means the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), because the last link in the chain after the Companion is the Messenger. However, if it is said "he raises it," that is clearer; "he raises it" means to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The important point is that the scholars of terminology mentioned that this phrase falls under the category of what is raised in ruling.
