The Shaykh : Turning away means that when the imam says the closing salam, he remains facing the qiblah, but to what extent? To the extent that he seeks forgiveness three times and says, "O Allah, You are Peace and from You comes peace; Blessed are You, O Owner of Majesty and Honor," as that came in the hadith of Thawban and A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with them both). Then he turns away. But does he turn away to the right or to the left? As you have seen, Ibn Mas'ud said, "I saw him turn away to his left more often," and Anas said, "to his right." Each is reporting what he saw; each is reporting what he saw. We say that the matter is broad in this regard. In fact, the sunnah (recommended practice) is to turn away to the right at times and to the left at times. But what is the meaning of turning away? Some people thought that the meaning of turning away is to place the people to your right and face the right side of the qiblah, or to place them to your left and face the left side of the qiblah. But this is not correct. The correct meaning is how one leans to the right or to the left. As for settling, you settle with your face toward whom? Toward the ma'mum (one praying behind the imam), just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he said the salam, would face the people. This is the sunnah. And this is the error that some people fall into, similar to the error that some people also made in understanding the fact that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would press one's heel against his brother's heel and his shoulder against his brother's shoulder. Some people thought that the meaning is to spread your feet and widen the space between the feet so that your heel, yes, touches your brother's heel. This is a mistake. This was not the action of the Companions. Rather, the meaning is that they stand close together so that the heel touches the heel, not that they open their legs. For this reason, there is no text in any source stating that they opened or separated their legs, ever. There is none. This is one of the mistaken understandings in which some people err. And the most common thing that causes the ummah (the Muslim community) to miss the sunnah is a lack of knowledge or an error in understanding. That is, a person may have little knowledge and not encompass much of the sunnah, so he errs. Or he may have much knowledge but understand it in a way other than what is intended. And this latter case is more dangerous than the former, because this latter person will argue and claim that this is the indication of the sunnah. As for the former, he knows what he is?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : A shortcoming and ignorant, so he submits as soon as the sunnah becomes clear to him. Yes.
