Why are earthquakes and signs mentioned in the prayer for rain?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Why are ... earthquakes mentioned in the prayer for rain?

The Shaykh : The prayer for rain is for the scarcity of rain.

The questioner : And earthquakes are in the book on the prayer for rain, not in the book on the eclipse.

The Shaykh : Why did he place them here? Because generally, rains and storms occur together, so the association of winds with rains and storms is more common than their association with an eclipse.

The questioner : And earthquakes?

The Shaykh : Earthquakes, as Ibn Hajar (may Allah have mercy on him) said, were mentioned here incidentally.

The questioner : Are ... those for which one prays, or is it sufficient?

The Shaykh : No, for the wind, it is sufficient to do what the text prescribes, which is supplication, no matter how much it intensifies, unless it leads to something, meaning it becomes very severe, continuing with intense gusts. In that case, it may be said that each person prays in his home and asks Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to remove it.
