Explanation of the Book of Hajj-01b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, Khalid narrated to us, Habib ibn Abi Ummarah informed us from A'ishah bint Talhah from A'ishah, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her), that she said: O Messenger of Allah, we see that jihad is the best of deeds, so should we not fight? He said:
No, but the best jihad is a well-performed Hajj. لا ولكن أفضل الجهاد حج مبرور
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 16:437

The Shaykh : His statement:
But the best jihad is a well-performed Hajj. ولكن أفضل الجهاد حج مبرور
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 16:437
Does the phrase "the best jihad" refer specifically to women, or is it a general statement?
The student: The former, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : It appears to be specific to women, yes. This is why another hadith was reported in which he said:
Upon them is a Jihad in which there is no fighting: Al-Hajj and Al-‘Umrah. عليكن جهاد لا قتال فيه الحج والعمرة
Sunan Ibn Majah 2901Sahih (Darussalam)
