Explanation of the Book of Hajj-02a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Yahya ibn Bashir narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us from Warqa' from 'Amr ibn Dinar from 'Ikrimah from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: كان أهل اليمن يحجون ولا يتزودون ويقولون نحن المتوكلون فإذا قدموا مكة سألوا الناس فأنزل الله تعالى وتزودوا فإن خير الزاد التقوى The people of Yemen used to perform Hajj without taking provisions, saying, "We are those who place their reliance upon Allah." When they arrived in Makkah, they would ask people for help. So Allah the Exalted revealed: "And take provision, for the best provision is taqwa (mindfulness of Allah)." Ibn 'Iyyunah narrated it from 'Amr from 'Ikrimah as a mursal (report missing the Companion link).
