Benefits of the hadith regarding the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer at Dhu al-Hulayfah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In this hadith, Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was eager to seek out the places where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stop and pray, to the extent that he (may Allah be pleased with him) would specifically look for the places where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had stopped to urinate. However, the Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the rest of the Companions differed from him, stating that there is no following of the Prophet except in acts of worship, whereas what he did out of natural habit is not something to be imitated. For example, if a person knows that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped to urinate on his way from 'Arafah to Muzdalifah during the journey, do we say that it is recommended to stop and urinate in that place? Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) did this and sought out such places, but the principle held by most of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), and upon which most scholars agree, is that this is not something to be imitated.
