Benefits of the hadith of the man whom Ibn 'Abbas issued a fatwa for, who then saw a dream indicating that it was correct.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In this is evidence that what 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas issued as a fatwa was correct, because he saw in a dream a man who supplicated for the acceptance of it. If it had not been correct, it would have been rejected, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected. من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
In this is also evidence for rewarding the one who shares with you what pleases you, because Ibn 'Abbas rewarded him by having him stay with him and giving him a share of his wealth. In it is also evidence that a dream may be in the form of parables, or by the necessary consequence of the thing, or explicitly. This one that happened to this man was by the necessary consequence, because the necessary consequence of acceptance is that the deed is valid.
