What are the categories of dreams?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student: A dream has three categories. What are the three categories?

The Shaykh : Did we not mention them?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : ...Muhannad?
The student: There are three categories. The first is the dream (manam), then the vision (ru'ya), and the third category is what a person imagines for himself from what he sees in a dream.
The Shaykh : The vision that is from Allah, the dream that is from Shaytan, and what a person imagines for himself... The vision from Allah is the one that is true and is mostly in the form of parables. This is why, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a notch in his sword before the Battle of Uhud, and saw cows being slaughtered, he interpreted the notch in his sword as the killing of a man from his family, and the cows being slaughtered as the killing of men from his companions. And the matter turned out that way. And when he saw two bracelets of gold on his arms, he blew on them and they flew away, so he interpreted them as two liars claiming prophethood. And this is what happened during his lifetime (peace and blessings be upon him). Likewise, the vision of the two men who entered prison with Yusuf, and the vision of his father Ya'qub, all of these are parables.
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice, وفديناه بذبح عظيم
[As-Saffat 37:107]
Is this it?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : We continue.
The student: We stopped at the disagreement of the scholars regarding Isma'il and Ishaq.

The Shaykh : Regarding what?
The student: We stopped at the disagreement of the scholars regarding Isma'il and Ishaq.
