Benefits of the Hadith: (Have you not seen that when your people built the Ka'bah, they fell short of the foundations of Ibrahim...)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It is clear that when Quraysh intended to build the Ka'bah, their funds were insufficient; they could not build it completely upon the foundations of Ibrahim. So they decided to leave out a portion of it and enclose it in order to complete the tawaf around the Ka'bah in its original form. They left out the right side because it contains the Black Stone. They left out this side because it contains the Black Stone, so the boundary of the Ka'bah on the foundations of Ibrahim on the right side is its current boundary. On the side of Sham, its boundary is below the Black Stone. It is said that the entire Black Stone is part of the Ka'bah, and it is said that most of it is part of the Ka'bah. The well-known view among scholars is that most of it is part of the Ka'bah, approximately six cubits or so. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that she presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the idea of returning it to the foundations of Ibrahim, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned a deterrent, which was the fear of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), because her people, i.e., Quraysh, had recently embraced Islam after being in a state of disbelief. If he had demolished it and rebuilt it on the foundations of Ibrahim, and it was their construction, that would have caused fitnah. And averting harm is more important than seeking benefit when the benefit is not obligatory. Here, the benefit is not obligatory, and praise be to Allah, they left this Black Stone in place. In the hadith, there is evidence for leaving the preferred option for the less preferred one out of fear of harm. This is a great principle established by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it is derived from His saying, the Exalted:
And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge ولا تسبوا الذين يدعون من دون الله فيسبوا الله عدواً بغير علم
[Al-An'am 6:108]
So He forbade the cursing of their gods, even though they deserved to be cursed, out of fear that they would curse the One who is sanctified from being cursed, namely Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And in this, there is evidence for attributing a thing to its cause without mentioning Allah (Mighty and Majestic)
Were it not for the recentness of your people لولا حدثان قومك
and he did not say "were it not for Allah, then..." This is a correct attribution. If a person attributes a thing to its true cause without mentioning Allah (Mighty and Majestic), it is truth, correct, and permissible. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about his uncle Abu Talib:
Were it not for me, he would have been in the bottom-most depth of the Fire. لولا أنا لكان في الدرك الأسفل من النار
Sahih al-Bukhari 6208
even though the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was the cause, and he was not the one who would save him from being in the lowest level of the Fire. And in this, there is evidence for the falsehood of what is popular among the common people that this Black Stone is the stone of Isma'il. Isma'il knows nothing about it. Isma'il built the Ka'bah on the original foundations, and this is what Quraysh took out until some of them exaggerated and said that Isma'il was buried under the spout, meaning that his grave is in this Black Stone. This is the most false and most dangerous thing for the community, because if the common people believe this and start praying in this place, they believe they are praying over the grave, and this is dangerous. Therefore, it is obligatory for students of knowledge to clarify such things to people. Even if someone says to you, "By Allah, I performed tawaf without the stone of Isma'il," tell him, "Come, wait, let me correct your statement first, then I will answer you second." Correction before answering is the practice of the Messengers (peace and blessings be upon them). When Yusuf was asked by the two men about the dream each of them had seen, he mentioned tawhid (the oneness of Allah) before answering them. He called them to tawhid before answering them. This is also an important issue: when a person comes to ask you, know that he has come in need of you and will accept what you want. So start by giving him advice if he is engaged in something that must be refuted, because he is in need now and receptive to admonition. And in this, there is the validity of the deduction of 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), where he said, "I do not see the reason for leaving out the touching of the Sham and Western corners except that they are not on the foundations of Ibrahim." This is a correct deduction. Yes, Ahmad.
