Is there any abandonment of the Qur'an now, such as the abandonment by some students of knowledge of the interpretation of the Qur'an?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is there any abandonment of the Qur'an now, such as the abandonment by students of knowledge of the interpretation of the Qur'an?

The Shaykh : His saying, the Exalted:
And the Messenger has said, "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur'an as [a thing] abandoned." وقال الرسول يا رب إن قومي اتخذوا هذا القرآن مهجوراً
[Al-Furqan 25:30]
includes abandoning the words, abandoning the meaning, and abandoning the practice. A person may recite it night and day at all times and yet be one who has abandoned it because he does not act upon it. Or he may recite the words but not understand the meaning, in which case he is one who has abandoned it, because Allah the Exalted said:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. كتاب أنزلناه إليك مبارك ليدبروا آياته وليتذكر أولو الألباب
[Sad 38:29]
. So if there is no reflection and no remembrance, that is abandonment.
