Explanation of the Book of Hajj-07a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Ahmad ibn Salih and Yahya ibn Sulayman narrated to us, saying: Ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying: Yunus informed me from Ibn Shihab from 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Abd Allah from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
In his Last Hajj the Prophet (ﷺ) performed Tawaf of the Ka`ba riding a camel and pointed a bent-headed stick towards the Corner (Black Stone). طاف النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في حجة الوداع على بعير يستلم الركن بمحجن
Sahih al-Bukhari 1607
Al-Dawaradi followed him, narrating from the son of al-Zuhri's brother from his uncle.

The Shaykh : This is understood to mean that it was difficult for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) to perform the tawaf on foot, or that he intended to show the people how to perform the tawaf. The scholars have differed on this issue: is it permissible to perform the tawaf while riding without a valid excuse, or is it not permissible? Some of them permitted it and cited this hadith as evidence, while others prohibited it, stating that the principle is that a person performs the rites of worship with his own body. When he is on a camel, he is not the one moving; it is the camel that moves and walks. Let us look at the explanation of this issue.
The reciter: Riding?

The Shaykh : Riding, yes.
The reciter: It will come after fifteen chapters.

The Shaykh : Fifteen chapters? Very well, count fifteen chapters.
