If one of my sons succeeds, is it permissible for me to slaughter an animal in gratitude to Allah (Mighty and Majestic)?

The questioner : Your Eminence! My question is about the success of students. If one of the sons succeeds in his studies, is it permissible for me to slaughter an animal to celebrate the son's success and in gratitude to Allah (Mighty and Majestic)?

The Shaykh : There is nothing wrong with preparing a feast and inviting one's loved ones and the son's friends when the sons or one of them succeed, out of joy for the blessing of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), to encourage the son and to motivate him.
