Slaughtering a sacrificial animal and saying this slaughter is for Allah, but as a nearness to the Shaykh
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 14090 )
Q: My father slaughtered an animal for a Shaykh in our village, and he said: “This slaughter is for Allah, but the reward is for the Shaykh.” I refused to eat from it, but he swore an oath that I would eat, or he would expel me from the house. What is the ruling in Islam regarding all of this?
A : If your father’s slaughter was to draw near to the Shaykh in hope of his benefit, even if he mentioned the name of Allah, or if his slaughter was in the name of other than Allah, then it is not permissible to eat from this sacrificial animal; because it is of that which was dedicated to other than Allah. And if the slaughter was for Allah the Exalted, in the name of Allah the Exalted, and he intended that the reward of this charity be for the Shaykh or someone else, then there is no harm in eating from it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
