I am an employee whose supervisor is a disbeliever. Is it permissible for me to greet him with the Islamic greeting out of fear that he may cause me harm?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy.
I bear witness to Allah of my love for you, O Shaykh.
The question, may Allah preserve you: I am an employee at a company, and my supervisor is a disbeliever. In the morning, when we go to work, he has already arrived before me. Is it permissible for me to greet him and initiate the greeting, knowing that if I do not greet him, I may suffer harm, or something similar?

The Shaykh : The way to handle this, if your supervisor is a disbeliever and arrives before you, is that when you enter his presence, you should say only "Good morning." "Good morning" is for yourself and your Muslim brothers; do not intend it for him. Or you may say "As-salam" without saying "alaykum," intending the peace to be for yourself and for the righteous servants of Allah. Do you understand? By doing this, the objective is achieved, if Allah wills, without harm.
