A man who used to shave his beard at a barber's shop on credit, then Allah granted him guidance, and now the barber is demanding the money; should he pay him that money?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A man to whom Allah granted rectitude used to shave his beard at a barber's shop on credit. After that, the barber demanded the money. Should he pay him or not?

The Shaykh : I mean, he did it on credit, then Allah granted him [guidance] and he stopped shaving his beard. So now,

The questioner : the barber is demanding the money.

The Shaykh : He should pay him his money. The barber worked and exerted himself, and he did not force this man to shave his beard. So he should pay him his money in exchange for his work. Yes. It might be said, for example: "Do not pay him the money, but give it as charity." But the barber will demand it and harm him with the condition, especially if the fee is large, such that he shaves once a month, which would be how many times a year? Twelve times. So the safe course is to pay him and say: "Look, this is forbidden for you," and that is sufficient.
