Is what is called the "Evening of the Parents" a religious innovation, especially since it is performed in the month of Rajab?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He says: And after that, is the "Evening of the Parents" a religious innovation in the month of Rajab, or is it in all months?
May Allah reward you. There is nothing called the "Evening of the Parents," nor the "Lunch of the Parents," nor the "Breakfast of the Parents." Do you understand? It is charity. May Allah reward you. Charity for the deceased is permissible, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) approved Sa'd ibn Ubadah in his charity on behalf of his mother, and he approved the man who said:
O Messenger of Allah, my mother died suddenly, and if she had been able to speak, she would have given charity. So should I give charity on her behalf? He said: Yes. يا رسول الله إن أمي افتلتت نفسها ولو تكلمت لتصدقت فأتصدق عنها ؟ قال : نعم
Do you understand? Do you hear or not? Good, answer. Good. But it is not one of the prescribed matters that one is told to do, because the Messenger did not encourage the Ummah to do that; rather, he encouraged them to make du'a' (supplication). He said:
When a man dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: A continuous charity, knowledge by which people derive benefit, pious son who prays for him. إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاث : صدقة جارية أو علم ينتفع به أو ولد صالح يدعو له
Riyad as-Salihin 949
But if we, for example, tie charity to the parents or to others on a specific day, or in a specific month, or for a specific reason without evidence, that becomes a religious innovation. Do you understand? Yes, yes. Whether in Rajab, or Sha'ban, or Ramadan, or at any time.
