Ruling on slaughtering animals and bringing them to the family of the deceased?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling on slaughtering animals and bringing them to the family of the deceased? And does this fall under the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
Prepare food for the family of Ja'far اصنعوا لآل جعفر طعاماً
Sunan Abi Dawud 3132Hasan (Al-Albani)
And people do this on a regular basis among themselves, for lunch and dinner?

The Shaykh : Yes, this is not included in the hadith of Ja'far for two reasons:
The first reason: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
Prepare food for the family of Ja’far, for there has come to them that which is keeping them busy اصنعوا لآل جعفر طعاما فقد أتاهم ما يشغلهم
Sunan Ibn Majah 1610Hasan (Darussalam)
The reason is that something came to them that occupied them. Most people today, praise be to Allah, are not occupied by grief because restaurants are available. They send the youngest of the children to bring what they want, and there is no work involved.
The second: The Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) did not gather with the family of Ja'far, nor did their relatives gather with them, nor did their companions gather with them. It was only food prepared for them, for lunch or dinner, depending on the circumstances, only if something came to them that occupied them.
But Shaytan makes things that are ambiguous in the Shari'ah a ladder for the people of innovation, just as He made His saying:
There is nothing like unto Him لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
a ladder for those who deny the attributes. They deny the attributes on the pretext that if the attribute were established, Allah would be similar to creation. These people cited this hadith as evidence, but there is no evidence for them in it; rather, it is evidence against them in reality. Did the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) gather with them, and Ja'far ibn Abi Talib was his cousin? Did any of their relatives gather with them? Never. Rather, Jarir ibn Abdullah al-Bajali (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
We used to think that gathering with the family of the deceased and preparing food was a form of wailing. كنا نعد الاجتماع إلى أهل الميت وصنع الطعام من النياحة
Sunan Ibn Majah 1612Da’if (Darussalam)
And wailing causes the deceased to be punished in his grave, as the Prophet (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) said:
The deceased is punished for the wailing over him. إن الميت يعذب بما نيح عليه
Sunan Ibn Majah 1593Sahih (Darussalam)
And due to the lack of warning the common people about this, they came to think that there is no harm in it. But if you tell any person: "Your companion whose father, or brother, or mother, or aunt died is being punished for what you did," I do not think anyone would dare to do this thing ever. Then these things became like a wedding feast. In some countries, if you pass by with the intention of attending a funeral, you find many lights, chairs, and tents, with people entering and exiting, as if it were a wedding feast, and may Allah protect us from that. Some contemporary scholars, may Allah guide them, said: "The origin of this is taken from the Christians. They do this to make the person forget this calamity by distracting him with the world, not with the prescribed consolation. The prescribed consolation is that the person is admonished and it is said as the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) said:
that whatever Allah takes is His, and whatever He gives is His, and everything with Him has a limited fixed term (in this world). So order her to be patient and hope for Allah's reward. إن لله ما أخذ وله ما أعطى وكل شيء عنده بأجل مسمى اصبر واحتسب
Sahih al-Bukhari 7377
Not that this commotion and these tents are set up. Therefore, I see that the scholars and the students of knowledge have a great responsibility regarding this issue. Efforts must be dedicated to eradicating this religious innovation. Yes."

The questioner : Your Eminence, the Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you. We are among the guests who came from the noble city of al-Madinah, from the Commission for Promoting Virtue and Forbidding Vice.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : In fact, one of my colleagues asked a question, and two others did not ask, and I am the third. So if you allow us three questions, two for them and one for me, that makes three.

The Shaykh : Combining is forbidden. May Allah bless you.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : No, one question. You, ask your question.

The questioner : May Allah give you health.

The Shaykh : Because the time now is very close.

The questioner : May Allah give you health and reward you with good.
