What is the secret behind washing the deceased?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says:The questioner : What is the secret behind washing the deceased?

The Shaykh : The secret in that is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded it, so he said to the women who were to wash his daughter:
Three times, or five or seven, or more than that, if you think that (is necessary). اغسلنها ثلاثاً أو خمساً أو سبعاً أو أكثر من ذلك أن رأيتن ذلك
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1889Sahih (Darussalam)
.
He also commanded it in the story of the man who was gored by his camel while standing at 'Arafah during the Farewell Pilgrimage, so he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Wash him with water and suds. اغسلوه بماء وسدر
.
And because he is washed in order to be purified so that he is presented to his Lord (Mighty and Majestic) in the utmost state of cleanliness, for this reason the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the women who were washing his daughter:
Three times, or five or seven, or more than that, if you think that (is necessary). ثلاثا أو خمسا أو سبعا أو أكثر من ذلك إن رأيتن ذلك
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1889Sahih (Darussalam)
meaning that whenever the need arises to increase beyond seven, it is increased beyond seven, but it is restricted to an odd number, meaning that the last washing is an odd number.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
