A continuation of the criterion for the fear that expels one from the religion.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
That is only Satan who frightens [you] of his supporters. So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are [indeed] believers. إنّما ذلكم الشّيطان يخوّف أولياءه فلا تخافوهم و خافوني إن إن كنتم مؤمنين
[Ali 'Imran 3:175]
Clear?
Now, is your fear of Allah like your fear of a lion? I am asking you?

The questioner : No.

The Shaykh : No, your fear of Allah is a fear of reverence, magnification, and awe, whereas your fear of the lion is not like that; you fear only its harm and flee from it.

The questioner : And the worshippers of graves who fear the occupant of the grave.

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : And the worshippers of graves who fear the occupant of the grave.

The Shaykh : This is shirk (associating partners with Allah).

The questioner : Major shirk?

The Shaykh : Major shirk, because the occupant of the grave is not to be feared, nor is his supplication to be feared, for his deeds have been cut off, and his harm is not to be feared, for his deeds have been cut off; he is capable of nothing, for he is a corpse. This is from shirk, from major shirk, because it cannot be anything other than a fear of magnification, love, and the belief that he benefits or harms, whereas he neither benefits nor harms.

The questioner : .

The Shaykh : That is enough, it is one question!

The questioner : Itself, the fear of harm to the self from a snake?

The Shaykh : From where?

The questioner : From a snake, a person fears a snake that it might harm him.

The Shaykh : Yes, indeed.

The questioner : The criterion in this matter of fear?

The Shaykh : Correct.

The questioner : When is a man judged to have this fear?

The Shaykh : It cannot be shirk, but if it prevents him from an obligatory duty, it becomes forbidden because of that.
