How does one who wants to pray Maghrib pray behind one who is praying 'Isha'?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O Shaykh: A person entered the mosque during the time of the Maghrib prayer and found the congregation praying 'Isha. What should he do? And should he combine the 'Isha prayer after finishing his prayer?

The Shaykh : If he enters and has not prayed Maghrib, and the people are praying 'Isha, he enters with them intending Maghrib. Then, if he entered with them at the beginning of the prayer, when the imam stands for the fourth rak'ah, he sits, recites the tashahhud, and says the taslim. Then he joins the imam in the remainder of the 'Isha prayer. And if he entered with them in the second rak'ah or after that, the matter is clear.
If he enters in the second rak'ah, when does he say the taslim? With the imam. And if he enters in the third rak'ah, he performs one rak'ah after the imam's taslim.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : I do not know if he is one of those who combine or not? Is he one of those who combine?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : The rain? If the rain is such that he catches some of the 'Isha, meaning after he recites the tashahhud he catches some of the 'Isha, let him combine. And if he does not catch any, in my view there is a place for hesitation, because he does not benefit from this combination with anything, since he will go out to his house, and we say: wait until the time of 'Isha enters and pray in your house. But if he catches some of the 'Isha with the imam, let him combine so that he catches the virtue of the congregation. Yes.
