The questioner : We are in night schools and we are unable to pray the tarawih with the people in the mosque, nor are we able to pray in the school due to the pressures of the studies, as they begin from the 'Isha' prayer until after twelve at night. Will we miss out on the reward mentioned in the hadith:
Whoever spends its night in prayer (Qiyam) out of faith and in the hope of reward من قامه إيماناً واحتسابا
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2194Sahih (Darussalam)
And will we have the same reward if we pray in our homes after the studies? Please guide us in this question.

The Shaykh : If you pray in congregation after the studies end, in accordance with what the Sunnah has brought, I hope that the reward of a complete night will be written for you, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Indeed, whoever stands (praying) with the Imam until he finished, then it is recorded for him that he prayed the whole night. من قام مع الإمام حتى ينصرف كتب له قيام ليلة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 806Sahih (Darussalam)
Furthermore, you are occupied with studies, and studies are very important and are seeking knowledge. Seeking religious knowledge is better than voluntary prayer, so you are on the right path. I see that when you finish your studies, you should gather behind an imam and pray eleven or thirteen rak'ahs, as the Sunnah has come with this, and I hope that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) will write for you the reward of a complete night.

The questioner : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you.
