Explanation of His saying: “So eat from what Allah has provided for you, lawful and good, and be grateful for the blessing of Allah if it is Him you worship. Only forbidden to you are carrion, blood, and the flesh of pigs…”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then He said:
(114) Then eat of what Allah has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And be grateful for the favor of Allah, if it is [indeed] Him that you worship. (115) He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit] - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
[An-Nahl 16:114-115]
This is better than what came before. Eat from the good things We have provided for you. Here He says:
eat of what Allah has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And be grateful for the favor of Allah
[An-Nahl 16:114]
and be grateful to Allah واشكروا لله
... but the meaning is the same.
And be grateful for the favor of Allah
[An-Nahl 16:114]
There He said:
and be grateful to Allah if it is [indeed] Him that you worship.
[Al-Baqarah 2:172]
He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood
[Al-Baqarah 2:173]
The same thing, we have explained it.
But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
[Al-Baqarah 2:173]
And here He said:
then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
[Al-Baqarah 2:192]
The discussion is complete. All the verses indicate the permissibility of eating forbidden things in cases of necessity. We have mentioned that necessity is measured by its extent, and that it is not permissible to eat more than what satisfies one’s hunger. As for the fetus, we said that it becomes permissible; if one is compelled, one eats it, and if one is not compelled, one throws it away. Yes. So we stop... Good, if Allah wills.

The questioner : ...؟

The Shaykh : Its benefit is what we mentioned yesterday.

The questioner : ...؟

The Shaykh : No, no, we mentioned it yesterday as well. Yes, Ali.

The questioner : ...؟

The Shaykh : One does not choose as long as all of it is made lawful. One chooses, meaning, for example, does he eat the liver or the spleen? He eats what he wants. No, he does not want the forbidden thing now, but perhaps his stomach is repelled by meat and not by the liver. Yes.
