Explanation of the Book of Clothing-05a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Musa ibn Isma'il narrated to us, saying: Juwayriyyah narrated to me from Nafi' from Abdullah ibn 'Umar
That 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a silk garment being sold, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, if I were to buy it to wear it for the delegations when they come to you and for Friday prayer?" He said: "Only one who has no share in the Hereafter wears this." And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent to 'Umar afterwards a silk garment of silk, and he clothed him in it. 'Umar said: "You have clothed me in it, and I have heard you say about it what you said?" He said: "I only sent it to you to sell it, or to clothe someone else in it."
