Explanation of the Book of the Hearts-06a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, al-Majishun narrated to us from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Sa'sa'ah from his father from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri that he heard him say: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
There will come a time upon the people when the best property of a Muslim will be sheep which he will take to the tops of mountains and to the places of rainfall, run away with his religion (in order to save it) from afflictions. يأتي على الناس زمان خير مال الرجل المسلم الغنم يتبع بها شعف الجبال ومواقع القطر يفر بدينه من الفتن
Sahih al-Bukhari 6495
.

The Shaykh : What the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us of will occur. A time will come upon the people in which the best wealth of a Muslim man will be sheep, which he will follow to the rugged slopes of the mountains and the places where rain falls, meaning the places of rainfall such as valleys, fleeing with his religion from the trials. And this is the best thing for a person, that his religion is safe from the trials. And this and similar hadiths should not be applied to a specific issue until that issue is completed and matches exactly what came in the hadith. Then, if the issue matches exactly what came in the hadith, do we say that it has ended and will not return, or do we say that it may return? In the early days of Islam, great trials occurred, from the Khawarij and others besides the Khawarij. At that time, the best wealth of a Muslim may have been sheep that he followed to the rugged slopes of the mountains. Do we say that it has passed, or that it may return? We say that it may return. Perhaps a time will come upon the people in which what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned will exist, and it will cease and then return, and cease again. The important thing is that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says: It is likely that this will be the best wealth of a Muslim man.
