The reciter: Chapter: Actions are judged by their endings, and what is feared from them. Ali ibn Iyadh al-Ahlan al-Himshi narrated to us, Abu Ghassan narrated to us, he said: Abu Hazim narrated to me from Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at a man fighting the polytheists, and he was among the most beneficial of the Muslims against them, so he said: Sahih Ibn Hibban 11:26 A man followed him, and he continued in that state until he was wounded, so he hastened death, and he took the point of his sword and placed it between his breasts, and he pressed down on it until it came out between his shoulders, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6493.
The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Indeed, actions are only by their endings, and what is feared from them," meaning from the endings. Actions are, in reality, determined by their endings, as the author (may Allah have mercy on him) said. This is because a person may do a deed from the deeds of the people of Paradise, but he is from the people of the Fire, or the opposite. Therefore, a person must beware of this and fear it. Then he mentioned the story of this man. This man was brave and bold, leaving no weakness or benefit for the enemy without eliminating it. So the Prophet (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) said one day:Sahih Ibn Hibban 11:26. This was distressing to the Companions and great for them, and they said: How can this man be from the people of the Fire, while he is in this position? So a man said: "By Allah, I will stick to him, by Allah, I will stick to him," meaning I will follow him until I see what his ending is. So what was mentioned here occurred. When he was wounded, he hastened death, and perhaps due to his bravery and boldness, he said: Why, why am I wounded while I am in this position, brave and bold? So he hastened death, refuge with Allah, by force. He took the point of his sword and placed it between his breasts, and he leaned on it, pressing down on it until it came out between his shoulders and he died. So the Prophet (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6493 I seek refuge with Allah. "In what people see" means that what is in his inner self may be contrary, evil and corrupt. And likewise Sahih al-Bukhari 6493. Actions are by their endings. It may be that this man does, in what people see, the deeds of the people of the Fire, then Allah grants him guidance, and he is guided, and his ending is sealed with a good ending. We ask Allah to make our endings good, all of us.
Whoever loves to look at a man from the people of the Fire, let him look at this man
من أحب أن ينظر إلى رجل من أهل النار فلينظر إلى هذاA person may do deeds that seem to the people as the deeds of the people of Paradise while in fact, he is from the dwellers of the (Hell) Fire: and similarly a person may do deeds that seem to the people as the deeds of the people of the (Hell) Fire while in fact, he is from the dwellers of Paradise. Verily, the (results of) deeds done, depend upon the last actions.
إن العبد ليعمل فيما يرى الناس عمل أهل الجنة وإنه لمن أهل النار ويعمل فيما يرى الناس عمل أهل النار وهو من أهل الجنة وإنما الأعمال بخواتيمهاThe Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Indeed, actions are only by their endings, and what is feared from them," meaning from the endings.
