The reciter: Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, Shu'ayb informed us, Abu al-Zinad narrated to us from al-A'raj from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6518 Abu Sa'id narrated it from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
The Shaykh : Yes, in this hadith two men insulted each other, a Muslim man and a Jewish man. The conflict between Muslims and Jews has continued since Islam came, and the conflict between Muslims and Christians has also continued since Islam came, and the conflict between Muslims and polytheists has continued since Islam came. So all categories of disbelievers are enemies of the Muslims, all categories of disbelievers. And this is indicated by the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Anfal 8:73] All disbelievers are enemies of the Muslims. And were it not that Allah shows mercy to the Muslims and supports Islam, it would have vanished like the vanishing of yesterday. But Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Hijr 15:9] and twelve thousand of the Muslims, rather of the believers, no one will overcome them, if they believe with true faith and fulfill what is obligatory upon them, of the means of victory, both spiritual and material, then no one will overcome them. But the Muslims today are a billion, but they are like the foam of a flood, some of them are more hostile to each other than the Jews and Christians. We ask Allah for well-being. And they all say, "We testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." So I say: The Jew insulted, so the Muslim said: "By the One who chose Muhammad over all the worlds." So the Jew said: "By the One who chose Moses over all the worlds." Meaning he is saying that Moses is better than Muhammad. The Muslim was jealous of this, because saying this by the Jew is a denial of the truth. Otherwise, there is no doubt that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is better than Moses. So when this Muslim was jealous, he defended the truth, so he struck the Jew, he struck the Jew, because the Jew said the false statement. There is no doubt that Moses was chosen by Allah over the worlds in his time, and there is no doubt in this. But after the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent, he is the Chosen One (peace and blessings be upon him). Where did the Jew go?
The reciter: To the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
The Shaykh : To the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), because he knows that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) speaks the truth and judges with justice. He did not go to so-and-so and so-and-so, not to 'Abdullah ibn Abi, nor to any other of the leaders. He went to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him. So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 2373c Meaning, do not say that I am better than Moses, do not say that I am better than Moses. Then he mentioned the reasoning, and it will come, if Allah wills.
The people will fall down unconscious at the time when they should fall down (i.e., on the Day of Resurrection), and then I will be the first man to get up, and behold, Moses will be there holding (Allah's) Throne. I will not know whether he has been amongst those who have fallen unconscious.
يصعق الناس حين يصعقون فأكون أول من قام فإذا موسى آخذ بالعرش فما أدري أكان فيمن صعقThe Shaykh : Yes, in this hadith two men insulted each other, a Muslim man and a Jewish man. So all categories of disbelievers are enemies of the Muslims, all categories of disbelievers. And this is indicated by the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And those who disbelieved are allies of one another
