Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This questioner says, among his questions, that he performs the witr prayer in the last part of the night, twenty minutes before the Fajr prayer. Is his action permissible...

The Shaykh : Is it?

The questioner : Is his action permissible?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Or not? And does it count as standing in night prayer?

The Shaykh : Yes, there is no blame on him. There is no blame on a person standing up to perform the late-night voluntary prayer and finishing his tahajjud and witr twenty minutes, or half an hour, or more before the adhan for Fajr. In fact, it is better to sleep for half the night, then stand for a third of the night, then sleep for a sixth of the night. This is the standing in night prayer of Dawud (peace be upon him), and it is the best form of standing in night prayer, as established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). Yes.

The questioner : This questioner is from the Arab Republic of Egypt.
