Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Qutaybah narrated to us, Abu Dhamrah Anas narrated to us, from Yazid ibn al-Had, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him):
A drunkard was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ). He said, "Give him a beating." Then some beat him with their hands, some with their shoes, and some with (a folded) piece of cloth. When he left, someone said to him: "May Allah disgrace you!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not help Satan overcome him by uttering such words."

The Shaykh : These are three things, and the fourth was mentioned earlier, what is it? The stick, the sandals, the end of the garment, and the hand. And he said:
Strike him اضربوه
and he did not specify, and this is evidence that is almost explicit that the punishment for the drinker of intoxicants is not a fixed punishment.
