On the Fajr prayer and the prostration in the second rak'ah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the Fajr prayer, in the second rak'ah, the imam recited Surat al-Sajdah. When he reached the place of prostration, we prostrated on the assumption that the imam was prostrating with us. It became clear to us that the imam did not prostrate for the prostration verse, but rather he bowed, and we followed the imam in the bowing. After the taslim, we stood up and made up a rak'ah with the surah and al-Fatihah. Was what we did correct? And what was obligatory upon the imam regarding his omission of the prostration?

The Shaykh : First, we say that it is not befitting for the imam, when he passes a prostration verse, not to prostrate, because that causes confusion for the praying people, as happened in this question. Rather, when he passes a prostration verse, he should prostrate as people are accustomed to and know, so that he does not confuse them or disrupt their prayer.
As for those who prostrated thinking that the imam was prostrating, and then it became clear that he was bowing, these people stand up from the prostration, then they bow and follow their imam, and their prayer is valid.
As for what these people did, which was that they bowed, and then after the end of the prayer they stood up and performed a rak'ah, this is an error. Because when they bowed after the bowing of their imam and followed him, their prayer became valid and does not need to be repeated. And the rak'ah is also valid and does not need to be made up.
But based on the fact that these people added this rak'ah out of ignorance, I hope that there is no repetition required of them, because Allah the Exalted says:
Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. رَبَّنَا لا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِنْ نَسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
