The follower’s delay in prostration until the imam prostrated the second time and he caught up with him in it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 17345 )
Q: One day we were praying the 'Asr prayer in congregation in the mosque, and in the third rak'ah we were in the first prostration. When we rose from the prostration, one of the congregation remained prostrating. When he rose from the prostration, the imam said the takbir for the second prostration, so the brother returned to the second prostration. What is the ruling on this situation? Knowing that the imam prays quickly.
A: If the aforementioned person sat between the two prostrations and then caught up with the imam, he owes nothing. If he did not sit between the two prostrations, he has to perform a rak'ah after the imam’s taslim in place of the rak'ah in which he left off sitting between
the two prostrations; because that rak'ah is invalid and the rak'ah after it took its place; because sitting between the two prostrations is a pillar of the prayer, which is not dropped whether by mistake or intentionally. If he did not make up the rak'ah after the imam’s taslim and a long time elapsed, he is required to repeat the prayer. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
