Is smoking forbidden or disliked, and is there a sin on the seller?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is smoking forbidden? Or is it disliked? And is there a sin on the seller? We ask for guidance on this.

The Shaykh : Smoking is forbidden based on the evidence of the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and correct reasoning:
As for the Qur'an: Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said in His great Book:
And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful. وَلا تَقْتُلُوا أَنفُسَكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا
[An-Nisa 4:29]
It is known that consuming tobacco causes harm to the body, which may appear soon or may appear later. This is a matter agreed upon by doctors today, after medicine has advanced and reached a high level. Doctors are unanimous regarding the harm of smoking. It is also, that is, smoking, disfiguring to the teeth and lips, and it may generally be disfiguring to the face as well. The smoker shows the effect of tobacco on the pages of his face, especially on the walls of his nose, where you see it when you look at him, as if it is greased with oil. This alone necessitates the prohibition of smoking.
And among the Qur'anic evidences for its prohibition is the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He):
And do not give the weak-minded your property, which Allah has made a means of sustenance for you وَلا تُؤْتُوا السُّفَهَاءَ أَمْوَالَكُمُ الَّتِي جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ قِيَامًا
[An-Nisa 4:5]
So Allah the Exalted explained the wisdom of providing wealth, which is that He made it a foundation upon which the interests of our religion and our worldly life are established. It is known that spending wealth on cigarettes does not establish the interests of religion or the world, but rather the opposite.
And among the evidences from the Sunnah for its prohibition:
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited the squandering of wealth أن النبي صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم نهى عن إضاعة المال
, and the squandering of spending it in something of no benefit. It is known that spending wealth on tobacco is spending it in something that has no benefit, but rather something that has harm.
As for correct reasoning, reason dictates that a person should not consume what harms him and exhausts his wealth, especially since he is a believer that he will be held accountable for it. For clear reason dictates that the sensible person does what benefits him and leaves what harms him. And the perfection of that is that he leaves what does not benefit him.
So matters are three: beneficial, harmful, and that which has no benefit and no harm. The first is sought, the second is blameworthy, and the third is perfection that he not do it. And if he does it, he owes nothing.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
