Smoking is forbidden, and it is more forbidden in the mosque

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
There is a fire alarm device in a mosque near us, and the workers operating it from the Civil Defense are stationed there for twenty-four hours. They smoke in a room attached to the mosque, and the questioner wants to advise them. May Allah reward you?

Answer:
It is not permissible to smoke in the mosque or in the rooms attached to it; because smoking is forbidden, and it is more forbidden in the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade one who eats garlic or onions from entering the mosque, so how much more so smoking in it? It is well known that onions and garlic are permissible foods, but they have a bad smell, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade one who eats them from entering the mosque until the smell goes away.
So if the one who eats onions and garlic does not enter the mosque, how much more so smoke, which is forbidden, foul, and harmful to its users and others who smell its odor.
Therefore, they must beware of that, and not smoke in the room attached to the mosque, and they must beware of smoke and stay away from it in every place and time because of its prohibition and foulness; and because it is a harm to them in their religion, their worldly affairs, their health, and their economy, and it is pure evil. We ask Allah for guidance for everyone.
