Explanation of the Book of Fitnahs and Rulings-01a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Musa ibn Isma'il narrated to us, and 'Amr ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id ibn 'Amr ibn Sa'id narrated to us, saying: My grandfather informed me, saying:
I was sitting with Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) in the mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah, and Marwan was with us. Abu Hurayrah said: I heard the Truthful, the One who is made truthful say: "The destruction of my Ummah will be at the hands of a group of young men from Quraysh." Marwan said: May the curse of Allah be upon them, young men! Abu Hurayrah said: If I had wished, I would have said "the sons of so-and-so and the sons of so-and-so." So I used to go out with my grandfather to the Banu Marwan when they ruled in Sham. When he saw them as young, inexperienced boys, he would say to us: Perhaps these are the ones he meant. We said: You know best.
.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
This hadith is also among the trials (fitan) that young, foolish boys take charge of the affairs of the Muslims. In describing them as "ayghilam" (young boys), there is a sense of belittling them and indicating that they are not fit to take charge of the affairs of the Muslims. If they are young in age and foolish in intellect, the Ummah will be lost, as the poet said: "When young men manage the affairs... without the elders, you will see defects in some of them".
Some of them said: Perhaps the correct wording in our time is to say: "You will see defects in all of them." And this is the reality: the corruption of the Ummah is that young people with foolish dreams take charge of its affairs, because they do not have intellects. And whoever does not have intellect does not have faith, because true intellect necessitates that the one possessing it is a believer, for intellect leads to faith.
