He says: After the Fajr prayer, I found traces of semen on my underwear without realizing it. Is my prayer valid or not?

The questioner : He also says: After the Fajr prayer, I found traces of semen on my underwear without realizing it. Is my prayer valid or not? May Allah guide you.

The Shaykh : If you did not sleep after the Fajr prayer, then the Fajr prayer is not valid because it was performed while you were in a state of major ritual impurity, since you are certain that this is semen. However, if you did sleep after the Fajr prayer and you do not know whether these traces are from your last sleep after the prayer or from before the prayer, the original presumption is that they are from after the prayer, and that the prayer is valid. The ruling is the same if a person finds traces of semen and doubts whether they are from the previous night or the night before that. He should attribute them to the most recent previous night, to his last sleep, because that is the certain state, while what came before is doubtful. Doubt regarding states of impurity does not necessitate purification from them, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
If any of you has a pain in his abdomen, but is doubtful whether or not anything has issued from him, he should not leave the mosque إذا وجد أحدكم في بطنه شيئاً فأشكل عليه أخَرج منه شيء أو لا فلا يخرجن من المسجد

Ladies and gentlemen, we have reached the end of this session, in which we reviewed the questions of Mr. Deeb Muhammad al-Na'ami from Jordan, Muhammad Salah Ya'qub from Syria, Sahnun Abdullah al-Sahnun from Ahd Rafidah in the south, Sa'id Yahya Abu Muhammad al-Rithi, and the questioner identified as M.H.H., and finally Abd al-Karim Khalil. We presented the questions and inquiries that came from them to His Eminence Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, professor at the College of Sharia in Qassim, and imam and preacher of the Grand Mosque in Unayzah. Thank you to His Eminence the Shaykh, and thank you.
